Councilwoman Cynthia Thompson

Councilwoman Cynthia Thompson

Cynthia A. Thompson is an eleven year resident of Palm valley.  She is the wife of Doug Thompson and the mother of two adult children.  They love calling Palm Valley home because of it’s great sense of community, it’s safety, and the lifelong friendships they’ve established here.

Cynthia is a graduate of Harlingen High School and received her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees at UTPA.  She has been an educator for 28 years, and is currently the Assistant Principal at Early College High School in HCISD.  As an administrator, Cynthia developed an understanding of demands for managing and supervising the operational aspects of the school.  These experiences additionally provided collaborative opportunities to establish and achieve goals to promote success.

Involvement in school and community has been a priority in Cynthia’s life, both as a parent and as an educator.  She has been a member of the Harlingen Jaycees, Cub Scout Troop leader, basketball Coach, PTSA member, and President of the HHS FFA Parent Booster Club.  She has also served as Social Committee member for the Harlingen Country Club, and the advisor for the Lower Rio Grande Valley Cotillion Club.  She and her family are parishioners of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.

With the support of her family, Cynthia is now ready to put her skills to work for Palm Valley, and is proud to serve as a City Council member.  She looks forward to meeting with residents to discuss ideas for continued growth and improvement of the city.
